Print is predictable and impersonal. Handwriting, by contrast, resists the eye!

~ Ruth Ozeki

Handwriting is considered one of the most common forms of communication.

Within the domain of handwriting legibility of letters and numbers, speed, and proficiency are key elements in task performance.  Addressing fine motor concerns through various activities will in turn prompt and encourage handwriting development.  In addition to improving handwriting, a child will improve self-esteem and take pride in their penmanship.

Within the Dallas Metropolitan area there are less than 5 handwriting clinics that work on fine motor development and their waiting list can be up to one year to obtain an appointment.

Therefore, to decrease the wait time for children needing services a handwriting/ fine motor clinic will be established but with a twist thus embarking on the creation of a business plan to meet those needs.

Tears to Cheers Boutique Therapy Services Inc., is a sole proprietorship pediatric therapy center based in Dallas, Texas founded by Dr. Candice Freeman, OTD, MOT, OTR in 2020.  Dr. Candice Freeman has extensive experience with a implementing a variety of handwriting programs and has received great results using research based methodologies.  Dr. Freeman received her Master’s in Occupational therapy in 2006 from The University of TX Medical Branch at Galveston (Galveston TX) and Doctorate in Occupational Therapy in 2013 from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (Provo, Utah).  She is currently a license occupational therapist (since 2006) (#112074; TX Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners).

The clinic specializes in fine-motor skill development in the areas of handwriting (both print and cursive writing), school-based consulting services, independent occupational therapy evaluations, and parent/teacher education regarding pre-writing/writing skills and fine-motor skill development.

The clinic will strive to seek referrals from medical doctors that document the child is suffering from fine motor delays /handwriting concerns. This therapy center will strive to become one of the premier boutique pediatric therapy services companies in the southwest region of the United States.  The goal of this premier boutique therapy center is to allow children and parents to receive the highest quality of care and education by restricting the volume of patients’ by carefully allotting ample treatment time and education to each and every family the therapist comes into contact with.
